„Wer bist Du, dass du sprichst“?
How dare you speak?

In this documentary, five women and transsexuals from Istanbul tell of sexual torture by the Turkish police, of how they are dealing with the trauma and of their fight for social change. Having talked about their experience in public, some of these women continue to be prosecuted with lawsuits pending to this day. The charge: insulting Turkishness. The film focuses on how the women deal with the experience rather than on the violence suffered.
It poses questions such as: How does the experience influence the daily life of these women? How do they cope with their fear of being rejected by their families and society? How does the experience of violence filter into the next generation?
